Summary

Overview of the National Fish Habitat Initiative and how the Kenai Partnership fits into the national program (presentation). Meeting participants brainstormed a list of words that could fit into the partnerships purpose, vision and mission. The larger group then split into four small groups to write purpose, vision and mission statements. Coming back together after a working lunch, each group made a short presentation to the full group. A great deal of commonality was recognized among the 4 small groups.

Discussion focused in on one of the small groups’ statements and began to tweak the statements until consensus was reached on the following set of statements:

The purpose of the KPFHP is to create and foster effective collaborations to maintain healthy fish, healthy people, healthy habitat, and healthy economics on the Kenai Peninsula Borough.

The vision of the KPFHP is for future generations to have healthy, sustainable fish and aquatic ecosystems.

The mission of the KPFHP is to protect, maintain, restore and enhance fish habitat.
